June 14 The gang's (almost) all here!

Bad weather delayed or canceled flights for many, but by late afternoon all had made it here except Deb Runyan and her husband.  But three were missing luggage!  I can sympathize--been there, done that on the Spain and Portugal tour!

Went to the art museums today.  Well, make that museum.  I had decide to skip the Alte Pinakothek--didn't need Rennaissance and Rembrandt.  So I bought a two-museum ticket and started at the Neue Pinakothek (early 1800s through World War I).  They had a special exhibit that had some of the more prominent paintings from the Pinakothek der Moderne (which houses the rest of the 20th century) and I was supicious, but the guide I talked to was not very good with English.  Sure enough, when I finished at the Neue and headed to the Moderne, I found that it was closed through September for rennovation.  That explains the special exhibit.  Sigh.  No Joan Miro etc.  So I walked down to Marienplatz and surveyed some of the side streets I missed yesterday, then headed back to the hotel.

Is this a commentary on those of us viewing the art?

We had a great group dinner, a buffet in the hotel.   Our tour guide, Erich, greeted each of us as we arrived, although he had already met the ones he had brought from the airport on the bus today.  At the end of dinner we sang one of our songs--first time we've sung together--and it sounds like we have a good chorus this year! Tomorrow is rehearsal day.  Then on Sunday the tour really begins.
